How to request a Tenable trial through FM CyberSecurity
Use a Tenable trial to answer a defined security question. Confirm eligibility, modules, access and assessment work before the evaluation begins.

A Tenable trial is useful when it answers a question about your own environment: which assets are covered, whether findings are actionable or how much work the platform takes to operate.
FM CyberSecurity can help scope a trial request. Confirm the availability of a free evaluation, its duration, included modules and any consulting work before setup. A platform trial does not automatically include every product or an unlimited assessment.
Choose one question first
If the immediate need is missing patches on servers, begin there. If it is web application exposure, define the applications and authentication needed. A broad platform evaluation may be appropriate, but each added area needs an owner and time to review its results.
Tenable’s product comparison explains the difference between a standalone scanner, vulnerability management and the broader platform.
Agree the setup
Document authorised targets, users, access requirements and scan windows. Confirm which components are deployed locally, what data leaves the environment and who can view it.
Use current documentation for each module. Network scanning, cloud connectors and identity collection are different deployment tasks. Review changes with the relevant system owner and establish stop conditions. No active assessment should be sold as a guarantee of zero operational impact.
Define success before the first scan
Choose a small set of evaluation criteria:
- The intended assets are visible, with collection failures identified.
- Important findings contain enough evidence to investigate.
- Owners can receive and act on remediation work.
- Results can be exported or retained as agreed.
- The team understands the operating effort and licence scope.
A clean-looking dashboard is not a useful outcome if authentication failed or half the scope was unreachable.
Plan the end of the trial
Agree expiry, conversion terms, removal of temporary access and retention of findings. Confirm what happens to installed components and collected data if you do not continue.
For a fuller assessment, the first-assessment guide describes the work between initial collection and an actionable baseline. Bring your environment outline to FM’s exposure management service to discuss a suitable scope.
